Lunch dates. Especially with Lynnsey Coker at Clydes. We spent almost two hours just talking and eating a whole bunch of REALLY good food. It was my first time ever at Clydes and it was super awesome.

Relatives came to visit and we celebrated my aunt's 60th. We actually put 60 candles on the cake and lit them all. She laughed so hard, it was hilarious.

Georgetown! It's the first time I've ever been there. It was so much fun. Plus Georgetown Cupcake was amazing, and I normally don't even like cupcakes.
December 29, 2010
I got my first acoustic guitar! It's so exciting. I've been kind of learning how to play, but I didn't have anything to practice on. Now that I do, I'm determined to learn. =)

Tuesday (56)
Skype. I love being able to have a face-to-face conversation with people who aren't actually next to you.
Wednesday (57)
Dance parties. (Especially at a church when helping out with the middle school ministry. They don't care so much about being able to actually dance. They just go crazy.)

I had the coolest dream last night, I wasn't sure if I should put it as yesterday's "like" or todays but I've decided to post it as yesterdays. Anyway It was a dream about a balloon. I had this black heart shaped balloon tied to my wrist, but it was so strong that I was hovering about six inches off the floor everywhere I went, but somehow I could still walk if I wanted to. It wasn't pulling me up by my wrist either, I was completely balanced. A couple times in my dream I just sat down in mid air and held on to the hood of someone's jacket or someone's hair and they just pulled me along with them. It kept making the people in my dream laugh. It was a completely nonsense dream, but it was so happy. One of those dreams that you just wake up in a good mood afterword. Today is going to be a good day.

FIfty-Four
Being at home on Sundays.
I spent my morning at church with the people I love. They've shaped me into the person I am today and that makes me extremely happy. I don't know where I'd be without this church, but it wouldn't be good. Afterwords I headed home and ate lunch and talked to my mommy. Afterwords I headed over to dance practice to see my old team. It was nice to catch up with everyone. Then I headed back to the church to "Encounter" (worship service) to give some time back to God. It was amazing (as always). I just love being at the Community Church. I can't even find words to express the love I feel there, God is definitely working in that place. Then tonight I made brownies entirely from scratch...melting the chocolate and all. They're the type with cream cheese swirled through them so they're even more awesome. Pretty epic day in general hahah =)

Monday - Thursday
This week has been CRAZY due to exams and coming home, so I haven't been able to have time to sit don and post on here.
Monday (48)
I pretty much rocked by Cultural Anthropology exam. That was a major "like" especially after only an hour of studying. Tuesday (49)
HOME! I took my last exam and then headed home and was actually home by dinner time. I had dinner and hung out with my family. Then I headed over to Lynnsey's house and got to spend some time with my best friend. When I headed home all my family was asleep (and it was what 9:45? hahah) so I had a couple hours to myself and I spent them working on a couple pages in my sketchbook. It's awesome to be home. I definitely needed this. Wednesday (50)
BAKING! I don't have an oven in my dorm, so whenever I come home I go crazy cooking and baking. I baked two kinds of cookies just yesterday (and there will be much more to come).Thursday (51)
I woke up this morning to snow. I'm pretty sure that snow has been one of my "likes" before, but I decided that we can count this one again because I'm in a different state =).

Friday (45)
I found out that I can fit all my credits into four years of college even if I get into the BFA art program and double major in that and psychology.
Saturday (46)
Oak House fun. I'm seriously going to miss these guys during winter term. We all hung out and then the girls at Full House were having a party and we went over there and each took one thing (a clock, sprinkles, a picture, salt & pepper shakers, etc.). They figured it out not much longer and tried to break into Oak House which we had secured shut. So much fun. These guys are hilarious. I love being around them. They're always so positive and fun.
Sunday (47)
Church stuff. All day. Staff meeting, service, staff lunch/dirty santa gift exchange. I got some pretty cool stationary. And ate a whole bunch of home cooked southern food. Yum.

42, 43, & 44
42
We had a basketball game on Tuesday and afterword the Cheerleaders went out to dinner at Red Bowl. It's so much fun to spend some time with the team when we don't have to practice. It always ends up being really goofy and us all making fun of each other. It's like a big family. I love it. I always end up having to drive Hilary's car home also...I guess that's what happens when you have friends who are of drinking age. Hahaha. After that I headed over to Oak House for their Christmas Party. Oak House parties are always amazing because they're probably the only parties on campus that involve absolutely no alcohol. Just a bunch of Christians hanging out, dancing, and eating. I got there at around eleven danced until 1:30ish (to pretty much the best music ever...complete with "smanging it", N*sync, S Club 7, and "Dougie-ing") and then ended up hanging out upstairs ("the VIP room" hahah jk) with about ten people until 3:30 in the morning when I finally headed back to get some sleep. It was just a fun night all together.
43
Yesterday night I hung out with Richard (one of the guys who lives in Oak House) and we watched One Tree Hill. It's always good to find another fan. hahaha. The thing I've realized about Oak House is that everyone is just always invited over. By the end of the episode three more people had joined us. We all just hung out for awhile and then headed over to Cookout and got milkshakes courtesy of Richard.
44
Modern Family. Enough said.

40, 41....and 42 will come later today (If I remember)
I'm absolutely terrible at remembering to write these.
Sunday (40)
Sunday night my small group met up with one of the freshman guys' small group and we had a "date night". We all dressed up and went over to Oak House to meet the guys who all were in dress shirts and ties (some even with bow-ties...my favorite). They sang a "harmonized" version of "My Girl" to us and then we had to pick our date. There were a bunch of random objects on a table and we were each told to pick one. Once we picked an item, the guy who owned it would reveal himself and he would be your date for the night. I picked a Nickelodeon alarm clock/radio which obviously meant my date was the coolest kid ever. His name is Ross and it was so much fun to meet him and talk to him the whole night. Some of the date couples were awkward but ours wasn't and I'm really happy about that. It ended up that he even used to live in NOVA. It was a really fun night and I met a lot of new people. I hope we do it again some time.
Monday (41)
Yesterday my new friend Richard (who lives at Oak House) decided to post videos, songs, and websites on my Facebook wall all day. They were all hilarious and completely made my day. I spent half of my Christian traditions class Facebooking him and looking at the websites he was sending me (for example: http://www.ilikeyourjacket.com/ ) It was just one of those little things that make your day so much better.

Thirty Eight and Thirty Nine.
Thirty Eight
Oak House parties. Oak house is a house that a couple of the upperclassmen guys from Intervarsity my school's youth group) live at. Last night they had a big thanksgiving dinner potluck and a dance party. It was SO much fun to be partying with a bunch of Christians and dancing to N*sync and Miley Cyrus songs. Basically the best party I've been to yet.
Thirty Nine
SNOW!
Yes. It's snowing here. We already have at least two inches and it keeps coming. I'm sitting in my room listening to Christmas music with the Christmas lights on and the blinds open so I can see the snow. It's absolutely perfect.

35, 36, & 37
Wow I suppose I have a lot to catch up on...
35. My "like" from Tuesday was cheer practice. It's something that I have twice a week and I just take it for granted that I'm able to take part in a sport I love on a team full of great people. Coming in to the team, I was scared that it was going to be overly intense and the team would be superficial, but I found the complete opposite. I never find myself not wanting to go to cheer practice. I loveee it.
36. Wednesday's "like" was Daniely L (which is a dorm). It's where my cheer base (Matt) lives. I went over after helping out with Youthquake because he said he'd give me a guitar lesson. That lasted all of a half hour because his suite mates, who are some of the funniest people at Elon, kept bursting in and just doing random things. We all ended up just hanging out and I listened to them play guitar and bass and just have a little jam session. At home I was so used to having friends just pull out random instruments and start playing, but this group of guys are the only people here that I know who does that. It was just a really fun night. I didn't end up going back to my dorm until past one and then had to get up for an 8 AM, but it was completely worth it. I have two "likes" for today I guess. The second "like" is that me and my roommate, Jenny, decorated our dorm room for Christmas and then took our "Christmas card" picture.
37. Christmas lights. Elon has been putting up lights, wreaths, and garland all around campus for the past week or two but they waited until tonight until they lit everything up. I missed the lighting, carols, and hot chocolate because I was getting dinner with the cheerleaders after practice but it's alright. Dinner was super fun anyway. I walked over by myself to take some pictures of everything. They had even lined the walkways with bagged lights. It was so pretty. I wanted to kick myself for leaving my good SLR camera at home over Thanksgiving and having to use a little point and shoot camera. But I decided I wanted a couple pictures anyway. I was there all of five minutes before I hear someone yell "Kaitlyn!" (I love being on a small campus for this reason alone). It happened to be Dan, one of the guys from Daniely L. I ended up hanging out with a bunch of them for a little before coming back to my dorm. I'm now writing this as I'm watching The Santa Claus (with Tim Allen) on ABC Family. It's one of my all time favorite Christmas movies.

33 & 34
33: Yesterday I "liked" getting back to school and seeing all my friends here. I really wasn't ready to leave home again yet, but Elon feels a lot like home now too. I'll be going back to Ashburn in two weeks anyway.
34: Today I "like" that all my homework is starting to slow down because classes are ending in a week. We're doing a lot of presenting and last minute two page papers, but I'm mostly done with most of my classes. I'm so excited for these next two semesters because I'll be spending most of my time in the arts building. I can't wait! It's been WAY too long since I picked up a paintbrush or touched my colored pencils. I just haven't had time.

My "like" today is my puppy (who is actually a 13 year old dog). She's currently sleeping on my bed next to me and snoring loudly. It always makes me giggle when dogs snore. Pinky (she had a pink nose when I got her, and I was five) is getting old and starting to lose her hearing, but she's still the sweetest dog ever. This break I've spent a lot of time with her cuddled up next to me or on my lap and I'll definitely miss that when I go off to school. She's forever my puppy.
My mommy and my princess puppy, Pinky.

My "like" today is getting to spend time with a bunch of friends I haven't seen in awhile. Randomly Tricia called me on Wednesday saying that she'd be in town on Friday but only for five hours. She called me right when she got here and we went to the Stone Bridge game and I saw a bunch of friends. It was cool seeing everyone after a couple months. High school football players look so small now that I'm used to the Elon players! hahah. SBHS won. Of course =]. Then Tricia and I headed to the Starbucks we always used to hang out at when we were in middle school and freshman year of high school. It's nice revisiting the old places. We went back to my house and then had dinner with her family which is like my second family. I miss having them live five minutes away but I know they're a family I'll never lose touch with. Tricia left and I met up with Lynnsey, Michaela, and Amy and sat with them while they ate dinner and then just hung out. It was so much fun just getting to see my friends in person instead of talking to them over the internet, phone, or letters. I can't believe tomorrow is already my last full day here. I can't wait until Christmas break!

Thirty -- Thanksgiving Day
Yesterday we went up to Pennsylvania to visit my family for Thanksgiving and this morning I woke up to snow. It was the perfect way to start off the holiday season

Today we drove to Pennsylvania to see my family and we had Thanksgiving dinner with my mom's side of the family. They're the happier, sarcastic, making-fun-of-each-other side of the family and I LOVE spending time with them. It was just great to be together after months of being apart. =]

Tuesday:
My "like" today is the cheerleaders on coed. Not for any particular reason, I was just thinking about how thankful I am to be on this team. We have so much fun and I love how we're all so close. I feel like I can call up any one of them if I needed something. I love having that sort of family. It's definitely my favorite team that I've ever been on.

I "like" the free medical coverage that I get for being a varsity athlete.
Last night at practice I was dropped as we were learning a new pyramid. It wasn't a bad fall, only from about five feet but when I landed I came down on a rolled ankle. It swelled up so I iced it and stuff but when I woke up this morning it just hurt even worse. So I went to go see the trainer and it happened that the head trainer, Eric, was there. This was shocking because the trainers are very rarely in their office, especially Eric. He checked out my ankle and said that I have a first degree sprain and he gave me a brace and told me to keep icing it and stuff. If it keeps bothering me I'm supposed to go back and we'll "seek further treatment". He also told me that the cheerleaders are "killing him" with all the injuries we've been having this year hahah. My ankle already feels a lot better now that I have the brace to stabilize it. Hopefully it'll be alright for the football AND basketball game I have to cheer at on Saturday!

20 & 21
Twenty:
Yesterday I got to spend an hour in a 24/7 prayer room. This was especially cool because a couple months ago I'd read Red Moon Rising which is all about the 24/7 prayer movement. The room was so overwhelming with so many different ways to pray and devote yourself to God. I wish I'd had more time there. It was pretty awesome.
21:
Today I went to my roommate's orchestra concert with some of our friends and it was awesome. Orchestras always remind me of NYC in the winter time. Probably because that's when my family normally goes to see shows like the Rockettes that have orchestras. It just put me in a really good mood. I'm starting to feel the holiday spirit! (...well once I get these papers written so I can go home for Thanksgivivng break hahah)

Eighteen and Nineteen.
Eighteen --
Elon won our football game against Furman yesterday! It's always so much more fun to cheer at a game in which we win.
Nineteen --
After I got back from church this morning I went to my friend Sarah's room and bribed her to get out of bed by saying that I'd "swipe" (a meal plan) for her if she came to brunch with me, so finally she got out of bed and we walked over to Colonnades. I had an omelette, french toast, bacon, and melon and it was SOO good. Exactly what I wanted. I love big brunches on weekends, especially Sundays.

My like from day seventeen was that Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets was on ABC Family.
So last night instead of hanging out with friends until curfew, I lied in bed and watched it. It felt so good to have a night to myself, especially filled with Harry Potter.

Fifteen & Sixteen
15:
After Youthquake (the middle school service I'm helping out with) all the college students went to chick-fil-a and then over to Brad's house to play video games and ended up playing poker. All the guys kept making sexist jokes and then more about me being a cheerleader...and then I OWNED all of them in poker. It was absolutely hilarious. I'm also really OCD about having the lines on the poker chips all lined up and once everyone figured this out they wouldn't stop flinging poker chips into my piles or just knocking my piles over so that I would have to realign all my chips again. As annoying as this was, it was hilarious and it's good to know that we're good enough friends that we can pick on each other. I'm really starting to feel at home here. I'm really glad that I'm starting to make more friends who are Christians, even though none of these kids actually go to Elon. It's just nice to hang out and play poker and not having someone spill a beer all over you. I really enjoyed my night and I hope there's many more like this to come.
(All my chips =] )
16:
Today I was reading a book for my Ethical Practice class that is all about the psychological differences between the ways that women and men think and act. It was talking about the development of children so it was interviewing two eleven year old kids -- Amy and Jake. They were asked "When responsibility to oneself and responsibility to others conflict, how should one choose?" Amy responded by saying that you should weigh the options and Jake said, "You go about 1/4 to the others and 3/4 to yourself." When asked "Why?" Jake responded by saying,
"Because the most important thing in your decision should be yourself, don't let yourself be guided totally by other people, but you have to take them into consideration. So, if what you want to do is blow yourself up with an atom bomb, you should maybe blow yourself up with a hand grenade because you are thinking about your neighbors who would die also."
hahahah

Late as usual....but my like from yesterday was the warm, sunny weather. It made everything a little nicer.

Thirteen
Since I came into college with 20 credits from APs, I got to pick my classes before most of the freshmen and after seeing a couple of my classes get filled and having to pick new ones I got the most amazing schedule ever. For winter term I'll be taking "The Human Face" which is an art class then in the spring I'm taking Statistics, College Writing, Fundamentals of Design, and Painting I. It works out that I'm taking one academic class and one art class every day, which means I'm only taking two classes a day (and only one on Friday!) while still filling 16 credits that I need. I've never been so excited for a schedule.

On the Twelfth Day of "Like List"...
Grocery shopping with friends, namely Jenny and Christiana. We spent over an hour just walking up and down all the aisles deciding what we needed (and what we wanted). It sounds weird saying grocery shopping was fun and relaxing but it definitely was. Andddd I bought the coolest water bottle ever:
Yes, that's my new "Belle" water bottle. Totally worth five dollars, I'll be using it every day.
Eleventh Day
My "like" from yesterday is being able to get "chair" with both the freshman boys on my team...This probably sounds really foreign if you aren't a coed cheerleader haha so here's a picture of what chair is:
We had a basketball game and last minute one of our girls, Rachel, got sick and couldn't cheer so we had to change all our pyramids and partners around to make things work out, since my base has a broken hand I was just tumbling during everything so I was the one who had to be put into Rachel's place for most things. Being the heaviest flyer on the team, I never work with the new freshman boys, but coach asked me to try chair with both of them and it worked with both boys! It's just one of those things that makes you happy to say that you can do it.

Ten.
I missed yet another day haha. Sooo my "like" of yesterday was seeing "The Social Network". I haven't seen a movie since before I got to school so it was just fun being in a movie theater. A couple of us went for my friend Ian's birthday and we had gotten Quedoba and Cold Stone and it was just a good night all together. Afterwords we (the girls) headed out to a party and danced FOR HOURS. It was so much fun having a girls night out and just having fun and singing way too loudly and dancing way too stupidly. It was just a fun night all together.

My like of the day is new friends. While I was away this past weekend, my core group of friends started hanging out with some of the girls on our hall. When I got back I felt a bit out of place since I wasn't included in all the Halloween pictures and inside jokes. Tonight we all went out to dinner though and it was awesome. It's always good to meet new people and these girls are hilarious. Annddd we ate huge cookie sundaes....they made everything just that much more amazing. hahaha
Ocho.
Tonight was just awesome in general. I went to my first official youthquake service (the middle school service at my church) and met all the kids. They seem awesome and I can't wait to get to know them better and to help this ministry grow. I can tell this is just the start of something that's going to be really awesome. After that the rest of the college kids and I went to Chick-fil-a and just hung out. It was really fun getting to know the people from my church better. It's starting to feel more like home. Then I came back to campus and my three best friends here and I watched "I love you man" and ate chocolate cake and a pomegranate and then played violin. I love my friends hahah =].
Tonight was just awesome.

Day Seven
It's only been a week and I've already gotten terrible at posting on the right days. hahah Oh well...so my "like" of the day yesterday was actually two things.
1. The banana bread my mom made me to bring back to school with me. I've been eating it every morning for breakfast and it's sooo much better than cereal.
2. This youtube clip...

Day 6
I realize it's technically day five, but I forgot to post yesterday so I'm doing that now! My "like" today was group showers...which isn't as weird as it sounds. There are four shower stalls in our hall bathroom and I have three best friends in my hall. Last night we decided to take a "group shower" and all shower at the same time. I'm not sure why we thought of this earlier because it was possibly the funniest thing ever. I couldn't even tell you what made it funny, it just was.

Day Five
This song:
You're just too good to be true.
Can't take my eyes off you.
You'd be like Heaven to touch.
I wanna hold you so much.
At long last love has arrived
And I thank God I'm alive.
You're just too good to be true.
Can't take my eyes off you.
Pardon the way that I stare.
There's nothing else to compare.
The sight of you leaves me weak.
There are no words left to speak,
But if you feel like I feel,
Please let me know that it's real.
You're just too good to be true.
Can't take my eyes off you.
I love you, baby,
And if it's quite alright,
I need you, baby,
To warm a lonely night.
I love you, baby.
Trust in me when I say:
Oh, pretty baby,
Don't bring me down, I pray.
Oh, pretty baby, now that I found you, stay
And let me love you, baby.
Let me love you.
You're just too good to be true.
Can't take my eyes off you.
You'd be like Heaven to touch.
I wanna hold you so much.
At long last love has arrived
And I thank God I'm alive.

Day Four
Beauty and the Beast.
This was the first movie I ever saw in theaters and apparently I stood up the whole time grasping onto the seat in front of me and not taking my eyes off the screen. This was weird considering I was probably around three years old and my best friend was moving all around me.
Anyway I watched the movie today. I started watching it with my sister, but then she had to leave for dance and I finished it out with my dog, Pinky. I forgot how much I loved this movie. Every aspect of it.

Day 3
My like of the day today is that I'm home! My church paid for my gas for me to come home and help out with Fright Night (our haunted forest www.thefrightnight.com ). I love coming home, even if it's only for a short time. =]

Day 2
I spent far too long with the ducks today, but it totally made my day. They're so cute.
Today they brought the swan with them too. It's the closest I've gotten to him all year. I spent over an hour taking 286 pictures of these guys today...."like" =] hahah

Irony
So I made this blog because of an idea from my friend Michaela, and ironically I went to check my mail today (not actually expecting to get anything except maybe my cheesy weekly card from my Aunt) and found a letter from Michaela herself. I absolutely love the concept of mail, especially from friends who I find rather hard to keep in touch with because of busy schedules. It was so good to hear about her life and dancing at NYU and such. She never fails to make me smile. =] My letter from Michaela was definitely my "like" of the day.
Numero Uno
So my friend (and pretty much the coolest person ever) came up with this idea of the "like list" and I decided I wanted to join in. I'd explain it all here, but she does a much better job of it....so just check out her blog ( http://thelikelist-michaelacatherine.blogspot.com/ ).
Ironically I made my first blog yesterday but it's on tumblr....I'll probably end up switching it over because I hate managing multiple accounts. I have no idea how to use either of the websites anyway hahah.
So it's only 11:00 am, but I have a huge "like" from last night. I met up with my friend/youth pastor, Brad, and we talked about me helping out with the middle school ministry at my church. After explaining my past experiences and my heart he told me that he'd like to have me start coming and helping out and hopefully being an official part of the team during their new "term" after we get back during winter break. I really feel like God is calling me to become a part of this church and to jump in and become just as involved as I was at Community. I'm excited to make this my home. It's good to know that I have something to work towards being a good person for. These kids will be looking up to me. I feel like I have more of a purpose. It's an awesome and inspiring feeling. I can't wait to get started and to get to know these kids.
